Wilkommen Landon

Landon Donovan's training with Bayern Munich paid off(look at him jump), as he will join the German club on loan starting January 1st. It will last at least until the middle of March, but if he impresses it is sure to go through the end of the season. Donovan has played in Germany before, for Bayer Leverkusen. That stint didn't go too well, and he was loaned back to the MLS. He is the five time winner of the Honda Player of the Year, given to the best American player. Much like Clint Dempsey, Donovan is one of those players without a set position. He can play striker, winger or as an attacking midfielder. His attitude has been questioned, and when he doesn't play he tends to sulk. This is probably Landon's last chance to make it in Europe. Most of the players on the US National team play in Europe, and with Beckham going on loan to Milan, he wants to show that he is up to their level. It will be interesting to see what kind of playing time he gets at Bayern, or if he will just return to America at the end of the loan.
